Cape Meares Lighthouse, built in 1890, is located in Tillamook County just north of Oceanside and Netarts and west of Tillamook.
Short tours can be taken of this decomissioned historic lighthouse.
The tour guide called this lighthouse the tallest and the shortest on the coast.
What he really meant is that the lighthouse itself is very short, 38 feet, but that it is situated on a tall bluff which makes it the highest.

The lighthouse is located in a state park which features some beautiful views of from the high bluffs above the ocean.
There is a 0.2 mile walk from the parking lot down a smooth sloping path to a short steeper slope at the lighthouse.
